John Wayne Austinson Announces 2020 Candidacy for Minnesota Senate District 26
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Rochester, Minnesota – January 15, 2018 Former Byron Head Football Coach and Minnesota House Candidate, John Wayne Austinson, has announced his candidacy for Minnesota Senate in 2020. Austinson will seek the DFL endorsement for Minnesota District 26 which includes the communities of Rochester, Stewartville, Dover, Eyota, and Chatfield. Austinson, his wife Julie and stepson Ben, live in Eyota and has spent the last 27 years working in education and coaching. Austinson is known for his work ethic, community service, and leadership.
“My neighbors have told me they want a leader who will focus on the local issues in our community and fight for our region’s values,” Austinson said. “Everyday we see stories about how healthcare is becoming more expensive, our schools are being underfunded, and consumer protections are being undermined. Now, we are back in a deficit just after one year of special interest backed tax cuts. We’ve had enough backsliding, it’s time for real leadership that will put our region back on a positive path forward.”
Austinson will be an independent and courageous voice to thoughtfully guide the Southeastern district though the contentious political divide. “We know what our differences are, but it’s time we had a Senator who focuses on our common bonds. That’s what makes communities stronger, that’s what I will do in the Senate,” Austinson said.
A campaign kick-off event will be organized in the 2020 election year. In the meantime, Austinson will ‘get to work’ earning the voters’ trust and support.
